  11. For the embroidery in the middle, follow the video tutorial. Also, use the images as shown below for a guide. Zoom in if you need to. These don’t have to be perfect. Mine are far from perfect but I tried to make these as close to the image as I could.

  21. Sew and stuff the head after you have finished with detailing. This will make it easier to hide your loose ends.

Marks for head, grey part:

  1. Chain 30. Make a loop and sc in each chain starting with the first chain you just made. [30]
  2. (1sc in first 4st. 2sc in next st.) Repeat around. [36]
  3. F.O.
  4. Sew onto the top of the head.

Details on head:

  1. Follow the images as shown in the video and pictures.
  2. BB8 has a gold and grey band on his head. He also has gold squares at the bottom.
  3. I also used brown sewing thread for the lines on the head. I used thicker thread so that it would more sturdy when sewing.

Larger eye:

  1. With black. 6sc in magic circle. [6]
  2. 2sc in each st around. [12]
  3. 1sc in each st around. For 2 rows. [12]
  4. Embroider a red dot in the middle of the front of the eye.
  5. Embroider a white dot near the top of the eye to add some dimension.
  6. Stuff and sew onto the head near the top.

Smaller eye:

  1. With black. 4sc in magic circle. [4]
  2. 2sc in each st around. [8]
  3. 1sc in each st around only in the back loops. [8]
  4. Embroider a white dot near the top of the eye to add dimension.
  5. Stuff and sew near the bottom above the grey line you just made.

*For the eyes, follow the images to determine where you want the eyes to be.*

Antennae:

  1. Follow the video for this.
  2. You can use wire you find at the flower section or jewelry section at Michaels. I don’t know that thickness of the wire but you can see how thick it is in the video.
  3. Use black and white yarn to wrap around the wire to make the antennae.
  4. Make sure that one is short and one is longer.

Details on body:

  1. Use the same thick sewing thread you used for the head.
  2. Follow the images for a guide.

After you have finished with the details, sew the head onto the body. Sew this on the least attractive part of the body. I had parts of the body I didn’t really like as much so I sewed the head on this part. Make sure that some of the underside of the head is peaking out like it is on the actual BB8. At this point you can be done with the doll or you can keep going and try to shade him with some brown/dark brown to show that he has been rolling around in the desert.

I hope that this tutorial has helped you. Let me know what you think in the comments below! Here is the finished BB8.
