Review: Earthlock Festival of Magic

Earthlock: Festival of Magic is an RPG developed and published by Snowcastle Games in 2016. It was released for the PS4, Xbox One, Wii U, PC, Mac and Linux systems. This is a magical game set in a beautiful world. The story is quite interesting actually. The Earth has suddenly stopped spinning. One part of the world is really cold and one part of the world is really hot. There is only one part that is live-able and this is where the story takes place. You play the main character Amon who gets caught in the issues troubling their world.

I really love the artwork because it gave me the sense that I was in a different time. It has a whimsical and adventurous feel to it that I really love. When I play an RPG I look for a game that places you in a world created with the player in mind. RPG’s make me feel like I’m really there. RPG’s let me escape the real world and walk in someone else’s shoes for a change. This game did just that. The only thing I wished I could do were side quests within my main quests. I would also prefer to freely roam around my environment. I would have loved to go into town and learn about the quirky characters who lived there.

There was no real sense of danger even when I was near enemies. It’s turn-based combat which is pretty common in RPGs. I myself would have like it to be real time combat. There’s something about real time combat that adds to the overall experience. It’s a fairly easy game to get through. For a younger audience who wants to get into RPGs this is a great game. It’s not too difficult to go through and the quests are pretty straight forward. The game even tells you what your quests are if you didn’t remember what you were suppose to do.

Overall, this is a solid game and I would definitely recommend it for those who are just starting out in the gaming world. This would be a great introduction. I was lucky enough to receive this from Snowcastle Games and if you would like to purchase it from Steam here’s the link: Earthlock Festival of Magic.
