Review: Sing

maxresdefault.jpg

I love musicals so I might be a little biased with this review. I grew up listening to music and watching musicals with my family. My sister and I were both in the orchestra. It’s part of me in a way that’s hard to describe. When I heard about this film I got so excited. I couldn’t wait to see it!

This movie features voice talents of Matthew McConaughey, Reese Witherspoon, Scarlett Johansson, Seth MacFarlane, Tori Kelly, John C. Reilly and more. It’s more a movie of perseverance than anything else. I really thought, from watching the trailer, that it was going to be about a contest similar to American Idol. It starts with a theater production where a female sheep is singing on stage. A young koala, Buster Moon, and his dad are in the audience and you can tell that Buster is just in awe of her talent. He really loved the theater so his dad worked really hard to get him the theater when he was older.

This movie really motivates the audience to pursue whatever dream they have in mind. One of the characters voiced by Reese Witherspoon is a mother of 25 piglets. She works so hard to clean the house, makes sure that her kids are fed, makes sure her husband eats well and she still feels unfulfilled. Her husband doesn’t even notice her anymore and the singing contest Buster sets up inspires her to go out there and sing.

I just wanted to sing along to all the songs they were singing. Everyone singing was amazing, especially Meena who was voiced by Tori Kelly. She has an amazing voice.

It’s a fun movie to watch with the family and I highly recommend it.
