Review: Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life
I’ve always loved watching Gilmore Girls. Every time I watch it, I notice different things I haven’t noticed before. This show is a guilty pleasure, among others (i.e. The Office…) The first time I saw this, Lorelai’s animosity towards her mother never really bothered me. The more I re-watch the episodes, the more I disagree with her life choices. When I see her being stupid I just want to yell at her and tell her not to do something. I want to tell Rory to stop treating Dean badly. I want to tell Luke to stop stalling and just ask Lorelai out already!
When news of a return came out on social media I got really excited. I kept checking online to see when it was going to come out. When it finally came out on Netflix I watched Winter right away. It started with quotes from the original show and I thought that added an nice touch to the series. It felt like they never had that long break. It was like they picked up nicely where they left off. It was great to see everyone again and see Stars Hollow. Before the season started I had this vision in my mind of what their lives were going to be like. Lorelai was married to Luke and Rory was some famous news reporter in New York. But, as you know, life is not like that and things are never that simple for the Gilmores.
The way Rory’s life turns out makes sense because, as they had mentioned before, she is just like her mother. I was taken aback by the cliffhanger because it just ended without any promise of another episode. I kept looking online to see if they were continuing it but it wouldn’t make sense because we already know what would happen. It took me a while to realize it.
If you guys are huge fans of the show, you have to see this season. It adds a nice closure to the entire show. For those who have seen it, let me know what you think 🙂
