Philly Flower Show 2016

My parents, my fiance and I are attending the Flower Show this year for the first time. It seemed appropriate to be flower crazy this year because of the wedding and it’s apparently a big deal here in America and around the world. I wish we could go multiple days, but because of work and other wedding appointments, we could only make one weekend. The Philadelphia Flower Show is the largest and the oldest flower show in the world with an impressive show space of 33 acres. This year the theme is “Explore America” because it is a celebration of 100 years of the National Park Service. They have amazing displays that recreate the 408 parks the National Park Service. Apparently more than 260,000 peope are going to be attending this event. There’s also going to be tons of food there, which I’m very excited to try. What I really want to try is the bison burger.

When we got to the flower show it was packed. It was hard to really look at everything and take our time with the displays. I did have a chance to take pictures and a couple of selfies but it was hard to focus on what to do next with so many people around you. It was a good thing that we ate before the lunch rush because when we decided to eat at lunch time, we saw people sitting on the floor chowing down on food (no seating) and every food stand had a long line. We decided to go out and eat at the Reading Terminal Market, which was also full of foot traffic. At some point we even stopped moving. We decided to eat at a Chinese stand and they had pretty good noodles and soup. We had to wait for a couple to leave before eating. It was full too. When we left, there were two ladies looking for seats so they took ours. Afterwards we headed towards a donut shop but that had a humongous line so we decided to go to a cookie place instead. The cookie place had really good chocolate cookies. I was going to take a picture of them and show you guys but they were just so good we ate them all 🙂

But beyond all the hustle and bustle of the day, the flowers were beautiful. Granted, we were disappointed with some of the displays because we wanted to see more flowers (didn’t think we were asking too much at a Flower Show), but when there were flowers, they were beautiful.

Here are some of the pictures I took at the Flower Show.

There were a lot of vendors there. They were selling really unique and interesting items.

This is an embroidery painting someone was selling. There were a whole bunch of them and they look amazing! I wish I could do that.IMG_2025 IMG_1974

I can’t wait to see what next year’s theme is going to be. Last year’s theme was “Celebrate the Movies.” That would have been nice to see 🙂 If you went to this let me know what you think. And if you haven’t gone yet, there is still time. You can buy your tickets online: 2016 PHS Philadelphia Flower Show.
