Fans and Their Comments
I just got done watching a Korean drama where fans got a little carried away. They wanted their idol to do what they wanted just because they loved his work. I don’t think that is right at all. Many times you see comments on Facebook and many times on Twitter about who is dating who and who is doing what. They have an opinion for everything, who doesn’t. There are times when I feel that this person should be doing this instead. But really who’s choice is it ultimately? We all have the right to have an opinion but others get carried away and end up hurting the person’s feelings. I listen to this one radio station where they had gotten rid of one of their radio show hosts. On Facebook there were comments on how they missed the person who left. There were also many comments and criticisms about the replacement radio show host. Some of them were mean, saying that the person’s voice is annoying. It’s fine to go missing the person who left but it isn’t right to be downright mean to the other person. This is just one example, and I’m sure there are others. On the radio today I just heard about Justin Bieber’s comments in a guestbook at the Anne Frank House in Amsterdam. Yea the comments could have been better and they could have been written differently, but he wasn’t insulting Anne Frank (at least I didn’t think so). Now don’t go saying I’m a fan because I’m not. I have nothing against Justin Bieber, however. I just think that the comments saying that he is an idiot, comments about how his fans know nothing and comments about Canada are ridiculous. It was one comment and I thought it was harmless. All he said was: “Truly inspiring to be able to come here. Anne was a great girl. Hopefully she would have been a belieber.” Come on, he’s a kid celebrity. The same kid who was 2 hours late to his own concert because he was apparently playing video games. Just be glad that he didn’t write something worse in there. According to another CNN article, Rabbi Marvin Hier even defended him saying that there was nothing wrong with what he said. I think that Bieber haters were just trying to find a reason to write mean comments about him on there.
I really don’t think that fans should be so harsh. I know it’s human nature to be jealous, mean and not like a person, but try to be nicer. It’s hard, but just try 🙂
