Quidditch World Cup

No for real. I’m not joking. For those who haven’t heard of this, this is actually happening. Now I’m not a hug Harry Potter fan. I love Harry Potter but I didn’t read the books or know little details about the characters. I love the movies though. I must have been living under a rock because this has been going on for quite some time now. They have a YouTube channel called International Quidditch. When you watch the videos it isn’t as exciting as in the movies. We can’t fly in real life so the kids just run around on brooms. It kinda looks a little ridiculous if you ask me. I’m not trying to be a hater or anything. I mean, whatever makes you happy. I just think it looks a bit odd and uncomfortable too. You could also get seriously hurt running around with those brooms. You could jab someone in the face pretty badly if you’re not careful. With all this being said, it’s still pretty cool that they made this happen for kids. From the videos they all seem to be having so much fun.

  2. The game is actually quite fun (and surprisingly difficult). It’s completely co-ed, full-contact, and you have to keep track of several balls just like in “real” Quidditch. The only broom-related injuries I’ve heard of comes from poorly chosen brooms breaking, but it can be a bit dangerous in other ways, especially if you’re not used to full contact sports.

Give it a shot if you get a chance to. I hadn’t thought that my love of HP had extended to looking silly on broomsticks, but it turned out to be a lot more like a sport than I expected. Many of the players haven’t even read the books and just love the game.
