The Infamous White Rabbit

WhiteRabbitBanned

You know that white candy that was soft and creamy? The one you used to be able to buy in Asian markets? Well, recently my friend told me that this candy had been banned but had forgotten the reason as to why. So I looked it up on the internet to find out why the candy I loved to eat when I was little was banned. It turns out that this candy might have contained melamine which is a toxic product used to make plastic. Officials in China have blamed milk suppliers for tainting the milk with harmful substances aimed at increasing protein content of the milk. I think this was back in 2007 or 2008. No wonder I hadn’t seen it in stores. Now they have resumed sales under the name of Golden Rabbit and also it’s original name. Milk used to produce the newer candies is apparently from New Zealand or Australia.
